City refreshes customer facing areas at municipal buildings

The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys, visited the Fezeka Municipal Building in Gugulethu, the Pinelands Municipal Building and the Khayelitsha Metro Police Building today to see the recently improved customer service centres at the two municipal buildings as well as additions to the Metro Police building in Khayelitsha. 

'It is very important that when residents visit a municipal facility they are entering a safe, welcoming, and neat environment that is operating efficiently. The physical environment is very much an indication of the level of professionalism a resident should expect at these facilities. The Corporate Services Directorate has initiated the Visible Improvement Programme (VIP) for enhancements at municipal buildings across the city. Everything from our waiting areas to our cashier tellers, the front gardens and landscaping, is being looked at. Our main objective is to refresh the customer service centres so that our residents can see and feel they are entering a building where we are hard at work to serve them,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.

The Fezeka Municipal Building is one of the City's administrative facilities that houses the local revenue office, Subcouncil office, municipal court and various other municipal offices. The Corporate Services Directorate through its VIP improved the customers' experience at this key municipal building in Gugulethu by upgrading the main entrance and establishing a water-friendly garden, creating a more attractive, clean and inviting environment.

The Pinelands Municipal Building is one of the City's administrative facilities which houses the local revenue office, Subcouncil office, clinic and various other municipal offices. The entire building was repainted, and the garden and landscaped area improved

Furthermore, the Khayelitsha Metro Police Building received improvements to the garden and landscaped area. New hard surfacing was also completed providing additional parking, as well as a multi-purpose court that can be used for netball and other sports to facilitate physical exercise sessions.  We are  promoting the well-being and fitness of the Metro Police staff.

The VIP promotes multi-use areas at City buildings. Further upgrades such as the refurbishment of the existing floor, as well as internal and external painting are also in the pipeline for this building.
